This transformation of a suburban home into light-filled, modern family space began with a young couple’s move from a compact Victorian terrace house in the centre of Winchester in the search for more space, parking and a generous garden for their children to grow into. The clients saw potential in 30 Hillside Road but the house needed reimagining.

SOLV replaced the existing garage with a two storey extension, accommodating two new bedrooms on the first floor and a home office, utility room and shower room on the ground floor. A single storey extension at the rear provides a spacious, flowing kitchen, dining and living area - designed for both busy family life and easy entertaining. Full-height sliding doors flood the space with natural light and connect seamlessly to a new deck and landscaped garden beyond.

A clean contemporary materials palette of brick and cedar cladding and carefully considered details give this home a calm, modern character, while responding thoughtfully to the everyday needs of a growing family.
