Experienced RIBA Chartered Architects in Winchester & Hampshire
A small architectural studio specialising in residential extensions, renovations and bespoke new build homes.
At SOLV architects, we help homeowners, landowners and developers create thoughtful, well-designed homes and spaces. Every project starts by understanding how you want your home to work, what you want to achieve and what is possible within your budget. We provide clear advice and a personal service, developing practical designs that make the most of each space while responding to the character of the existing building and its surroundings.
Our Services
From extending and renovating existing homes to designing new homes and exploring the development opportunities of land, we provide practical architectural advice and thoughtful design from the earliest stages.
Extensions
When your home starts to feel too small, an extension can do more than simply add floor space. We look at how your home works as a whole, considering the existing layout, natural light, views, garden and the way you use the spaces every day. From a carefully designed rear extension to creating a more connected kitchen, dining and living space, the aim is to make your home work better without overcomplicating the design.
Renovations
Renovating gives you the opportunity to rethink how your existing home works. We can help improve layouts, bring more natural light into darker spaces, connect rooms with the garden and make better use of areas that are currently underused. We take a practical approach to design, working with the character and qualities of the existing building while finding ways to make it more comfortable, useful and enjoyable to live in.
New Homes
Building a new home gives you the opportunity to create something that works from the outset. We consider the site, its surroundings and the way you want to live, developing a design that makes the most of its setting, light, views and available space.
Sites and Development
We work with landowners and developers to explore the potential of sites and guide residential projects from the early stages through planning and beyond. This can include assessing opportunities and constraints, developing designs for new homes and small residential developments and creating schemes that respond thoughtfully to their surroundings. Good design starts with understanding the site and finding the right balance between what is possible, what is appropriate and what will work commercially.

Don’t just take our word for it
We felt SOLV architects offered excellent value for money. Shaun’s expertise and ideas made a real difference to our project, and having him guide me through the process gave me complete peace of mind. We would happily recommend SOLV. Angela S
I have worked with SOLV architects on a few projects, both listed and non listed properties. Shaun is always a pleasure to deal with, patient, creative and respectful of my ideas, whilst happy to challenge and suggest alternative options. Always efficient, communicative and well priced. No hesitation in recommending. E Ayling
We love our home now and think it is the best looking extension in the street. We are so pleased you are our architect and the build would not have gone so smoothly and as stress free, if we hadn’t had you. We are not going to, but we could easily do another extension, but only if we had you on our team. J&R Lusted
We are really happy with the results of our house renovation. SOLV architects designed a modernised space within budget. The result means we have a contemporary, well designed family home. Communication was smooth throughout and we appreciated how he took the time to understand what we needed—even in the smaller details. It was a thoughtful renovation that has made a big difference. Would highly recommend SOLV architects. B Ghazaros
Shaun and I worked on a project to convert some outbuildings at a listed property. He came up with a clever scheme for a small space and dealt with the planning department & conservation officer very effectively. S Lambert
