Treetops Lodge-New Build

Treetops Lodge

Scheme: New Build

Location: Braishfield, Romsey Hampshire

Client: Private Homeowner

Completion: 2024

Treetops Lodge is a carefully considered new dwelling set within the Braishfield Conservation Area, designed to meet the complex needs of a client livving with Multiple Sclerosis. The brief called for a fully accessible home with integrated guest and carer accomodation - delivered in a way thats responds both to the clients evolving needs and the rural character of its surroundings. The building is a contemporary interpretation of the agriicultural forms found throughout the village. Clad in a mix of black timber and bricks with powder coated windows and doors the home sits comfortable between a line of mature oak trees and open countryside. A green roof softens the massing at the southern end, while a black metal pitched roof references the traditional rural buildings of the area.

The layout is split into two distinct but connected zones. The southern end of the home is fully accessible and single storey, providing an entrance lobby, utility/WC, therapy room, open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, and a main bedroom with en-suite—offering independence and ease of movement throughout. To the north, a two-storey wing accommodates guest and carer spaces, with a study/snug, ground floor bedroom and bathroom, and two further bedrooms with en-suite facilities upstairs. This arrangement ensures privacy and flexibility while maintaining a strong sense of connection across the home.

Treetops Lodge demonstrates how thoughtful, site-responsive design can create inclusive, beautiful homes that support wellbeing, independence, and rural living—without compromise.
