The brief for the project is to provide an accessible dwelling with guest and carer accommodation for a client with Multiple Sclerosis.
The form of the building is a contemporary interpretation of the farm buildings in the village and comprises brick and black timber clad elevations with aluminium doors and windows under a green roof at the southern end and a black metal pitch roof to the remainder.
The site is in the Braishfield Conservation Area and lies between the main road through Braishfield and the countryside. A row of oak trees on the boundary against the road define a linear development area between the trees and the countryside.
The scheme comprises two elements, a single level accessible area for the client at the southern end and a two storey area for guests/carers at the northern end.
The accessible area comprises ; entrance WC/Utility cloaks bedroom and ensuite, open plan kitchen dining and living area and therapy room.
The two storey area comprises; Study/Snug, bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and two bedrooms and ensuite on the first floor.
